Hello everyone,

I'm currently displaying prayer times on my WordPress site salatalert.com using web scraping. While this works, it's not ideal due to potential inaccuracies and reliance on external sources.

I'm looking for a more reliable and accurate method to display Saudi prayer timings, preferably through an API or any other method that ensures up-to-date information.

1. Are there any recommended plugins or APIs that provide accurate prayer times for Saudi Arabia?
2. How can I ensure the timings are regularly updated automatically without manual intervention?
3. What would be the best approach to integrate this into my WordPress site for seamless updates?

1. Use a Reliable API
   Instead of web scraping, you can use an API to fetch up-to-date prayer times automatically. A good option is the Aladhan API:

• Go to Aladhan API and get a free API key.

• Use the API to get prayer times for Saudi Arabia by calling:

https://api.aladhan.com/v1/timingsByCity?city=Riyadh&country=Saudi%20Arabia&method=2
This API will give you accurate prayer times for Riyadh (or any other city in Saudi Arabia).
2. How to Automatically Update
You don’t need to manually update anything. Just use the API to fetch the prayer times daily:

• Install a plugin like WP Crontrol to set up scheduled tasks.

• Use WordPress's wp_remote_get() function to pull the API data every day and display it on your site.

3. WordPress Plugins
   If you prefer a plugin for easier setup, you can try these:

• Muslim Pro Plugin or

• Salaat First Widget.

These plugins will automatically update the prayer times for you and display them on your site.
