If you turn off wrap lines, you can happily search the entire file, no matter where the word is.
If you turn on wrap lines, you can only search the text that is visible on screen. Words in the file that aren't visible fail to register in the search. You have to scroll to them in order for them to be searchable, making the entire point of searching for them moot.
