Pages, Custom Domain: Reversion to "DNS check in progress" after succesful check.

I face the situation described below: is the recurrent "DNS check in progress" comment just a bug?

Description

I have no problem configuring a custom domain and having Github perform a successful DNS check. However, when I close the brwoser tab and return later to Settings -> Pages, under the custom domain name I find the comment "DNS check in progress". Removing the custom domain and then adding it back again triggers a new and successful check, but when I close the browser tab and return to the site later, I again see the "DNS check in progress" comment. This issue occurs on two repositories, one private and one public.
