Click on teams, select a team, click add member, enter the member user name, click invite.
You will see a dialog box titled Add members to . There you will see a stale list of repos (including the count) which show the names and count at the time when the team was created (I think). As a result it shows old deleted repos also, and does not show new repos you added to the team. If you see the listing of the repos by going in the team->repositories, you see a different number and count.
