Hi! My name is Maxim (@Maximvdw) and I teach Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit Brussel for 5 years now. I give courses like Web Technologies and Next Generation User Interfaces. Officially using versioning control is not part of the curriculum and is considered a soft skill. However, I find it benefits both me and my students to let them use github to build up their portfolio and to work together with other group members. I highly recommend them to use github for group projects so we can more easily help them with questions/issues while simultaneously also improving group communication.

I help students use issue tracking, managing pull request and generally how they can contribute to OSS.

Receiving some swag for students is always welcome, even if its just to get students slightly motivated in joining these non-mandatory, but important exercises.
