It the past, the asset bound to a package (e.g. npm) was provided in the GitHub UI as a link that made it downloadable from the GUI.

This is no longer the case, so the feature is either broken or removed.

This was pretty useful and should definitely be added back in.

If you want to download a file from GitHub Packages, you can do it via the API and curl.

It took me a few weeks to figure out how to do this, so I wrote an article describing it here

That will only work for Docker containers as far as I understand, not for npm packages.

The article has two examples: one is docker and the second is GitHub Packages. Specifically read the section about GitHub Packages -- it should apply to npm packages.
