🚀 Major Updates for the Karrio Community! 🚀

Hello Karrio enthusiasts,

Today, I’m sharing some thrilling news and significant changes coming to the Karrio platform. I am amazed by all the cool companies and logos I see testing and adopting Karrio. As we continue to build a universal shipping platform useful to developers across the world, our journey is taking exciting new turns.

🔹 Joining Teleship: I am thrilled to announce that I am joining Teleship, a cutting-edge cross-border shipping solution for eCommerce, to lead engineering and build a modern shipping infrastructure. This role will leverage the experience and knowledge I have accumulated working on Karrio to help build a tech-enabled B2C delivery service that stands out in today’s competitive market. I am truly grateful for that opportunity.

🔹 Moving to Sponsorware: Karrio is transitioning to a sponsorware model. This change is designed to help sustain the project through community and corporate sponsorship. For that, we are introducing the Insiders program, similar to the approach taken by Mkdocs Material by @squidfunk. This program will grant sponsors access to all advanced features previously developed for Karrio Cloud and Enterprise, such as Multi-tenancy and Karrio Automation, plus all additional features planned for the former Karrio Commercial Edition. This shift allows us to keep Karrio fully open source, without the complications of a restrictive license. All sponsors will be given access to a private repository that has some additional features. 🔹 Continued Dedication: My commitment to Karrio remains steadfast. I will continue to maintain the platform in my spare time and as part of my role at Teleship, integrating and enhancing Karrio’s capabilities within our new infrastructure. I had to take a break in active features development for Karrio over the last month as I had a lot to do between knowledge transfer from my consulting role at Resonance to beginning planning and getting onboarded at Teleship. I am slowly resuming active development on Karrio.

🔹 Enhancing Platform Extensibility: My focus will now shift towards making the platform more extensible. This includes making it easier to integrate new shipping carriers and breaking the Karrio dashboard into a shell/template that you can easily customize and extend with embedded apps. Moving forward, new carrier integrations will be required to be sponsored following a bounty model. Look out for the Fund tag on carrier-integration issues, where you can sponsor any contributors to integrate specific carriers directly.

🔹 Invitation to Contribute and Sponsor: We invite you to become an active contributor or sponsor of Karrio. Your involvement is crucial in helping us build a team of core maintainers. While I will continue to work and maintain Karrio, all new carrier integrations will require sponsorship to support the integration work and long-term maintenance. Sponsors will not only contribute to the growth of Karrio but also compensate and nurture contributors who aspire to become experts and core maintainers.

I am adopting Polar.sh to help with the logistics of managing sponsorship and other feature funding processes for Karrio features.

My current goal is to be able to allocate a full-time developer resource to the maintenance of Karrio.
