Changing icons in Cinnamon can be frustrating

Moin,
I have recently experienced that it can be very frustrating if you are new to Cinnamon and want to change an icon, e.g. a launcher on the desktop.
The person switching from Windows tried this in vain. On the one hand it was not clear that emblems did not mean icon and on the other hand it was not clear that you “only” have to click on the icon itself in the properties of the launcher to change it.
He therefore spent hours looking for help in the Internet.
Unfortunately, it's the little things that drive people into frustration and ultimately prevent them from switching to Linux.
Would it be possible to display a button labeled “other icon” as in Windows?
A detailed documentation for Cinnamon where such things are described as an alternative would also be helpful. Unfortunately I could not find anything.
