Long term maintenance

For Micro to continue long term it will need a set of maintainers and some form of sponsorship. If anyone is interested respond here.

It all depends on your vision of this project and its purpose.

• Isn't it something like AuditeMarlow/gomu, go-micro/cli, muxyz/mu that use the v3 framework lib?
• Is there any potential in developing this project, or only maintaining legacy code, closing issues, and writing documentation?

I'd like to know what is worthy of attention from the micro based ecosystem. With the lack of media support and confusion in names, versions, branches, articles, and documentation, it isn't easy to use this project. In addition, v4 stopped supporting stream and I don't understand whether this is a bug or a feature. For the most part, I don't see a lot of excitement about using this ecosystem, even in the `go-micro' branch - which, in my opinion, supports more features, is better documented, and more popular (relative to the number of stars).
As for me, I see the project as a starting point for a microservices-based distribution system development framework. In the absence of documentation, step-by-step instructions, or articles, I've been digging into the code to find answers to how these things work and making changes along the way.

I think you highlight good points. Historically go-micro as a framework was the central focus with micro providing tooling around that. In 2019 in the pursuit of broader goals I raised funding from VCs and tried to build a product. This separated the needs of the community from the company and the product essentially split the project in two. All of that has led to fragmentation, deprecation and stagnation of both micro and go-micro. I think merging them back together would be great but not likely without a lot of work. Otherwise I'm open to ideas on the best path forward. Micro is still something in my mind that has the potential long term and v5 may be a bigger evolution towards that. All the services (https://github.com/micro/services) we built as part of the product offering which became M3O (https://github.com/m3o/m3o) still exist and I think highlight what the purpose of this was.

Noting your point about streaming. It's a bug. Streaming should be supported.
