after setting the claude_desktop_config.json the desktop app still does not have access to file system

when i open the claude desktop app it will run cmd and show

Secure MCP Filesystem Server running on stdio
Allowed directories: [ 'c:\users\MY_USER_NAME\desktop' ]

but i dont see any MCP tools in the desktop app and when asking "what files can u see?" it replies "I don't have access to any files at the moment. To work with any files, you'll need to share them directly in our conversation. You can paste text content or use the file upload feature to share documents with me."
