documentation on adding a new backend

I would like to make an SDL backend for this project, would I just need to read through the existing backends? is there other documentation for it?

Another backend would be great :-)
Up to now there is no documentation for this, you could read through the existing backends as you suggested. Maybe we need some changes or improvements, but this would be no problem since the project is still in early phase of devlopment and nothing is fixed so far.
