National Board of Antiquities (contact Minna Ryyppö) has needs for adding autocad format datasets to Oskari, could e.g. dxf-format be suitable for Dataset Import? Does anybody else have such needs?

If GeoTools supports reading DXF files then adding support for them is trivial.

Ok - so strong yes on this? :) Should it support all formats that GeoTools supports then? http://docs.geotools.org/stable/userguide/geotools.html

Dxf is among them.

MyPlaces import won't support all of the formats GeoTools supports out-of-the-box. But adding support for a format that GeoTools is able to read is rather easy. I'm not familiar with the inner workings of DXF format so I can't be certain that the result will be exactly what the user might expect. Also I'm not sure how "well" GeoTools can read them. Having a basic support for a format might be enough. Best way to find out would be to test the GeoTools parser with the actual DXF files the user is hoping to import.

Ok! Thanks! I'll let Minna know about this.
