Describe the idea

When the smartphone is connected to any maritime network (3G or 4G), please consider there is no network, and display an information bar.

To see the problem:

  • Go with your phone on Mediterranean see
  • The problem is the price: 9,70 € / Mb (with Free Mobile - France)
  • When you see the SMS "welcome to ....", Osmand has already downloaded the automatic updates.

Expected behaviour

No network even if you are connected.

Alternatives you've considered

Nothing... except stay on plane mode.

Context

No response

Which "automatic updates" are you referring to?

Quite possibly, there are many processes on your phone trying to use mobile data when available (having nothing to do with OsmAnd), so if you get on an 'expensive' network, e.g. a roaming situation, it is advisable to start with voice only, and Mobile data being disabled while you check your phone for such processes.

Netguard is somwthing like firewall fornot rooted phones. With it, you can block any app for mobile and leave it for wifi.

Yes I know, it's better to stay in plane mode, or to start with voice only, but a mistake is so easy...
My idea, is to say in Osmand, if network name contains "maritim", ok there is no network.
But maybe it's complicated.

As a more general solution, OsmAnd should behave purely 'offline', and would not download anything which is not clearly labeled as online functionality, and even then only after prior asking the user.
