I just installed Joplin 2.9.17 on linux (desktop).
I installed the v1.0.5, the latest version via the gui of the app and restarted it.
I proceeded to create a new note containing the example code provided on the github page but none worked. As seen below.

I found the solution:
Enter the formulas, then press the 'Calculate table formulas' icon on the toolbar. This will then run the formulas and enter either the result or '#ERROR!'
