Hi,

this question appears quite often at the forums, mailinglist or IRC channel. Could be useful to document this somewhere in the external stroage documentation:

Users are often trying to add files to their external storages (SMB/CIFS/...) and wonder why the sometimes don't appear in OC.

Some reasons for this behaviour where posted by @PVince81 at the users mailinglist:

@PVince81 I would have expected those actions to be carried out automatically at least when using the system cron method, so I agree that this should be documented. That said, I only run system cron and never saw any issues...

@icewind1991 can you comment on this ?

The workaround is probably to periodically run ./occ:files scan --all.
