Are there any for linux?
I could only find the Android-News-App.

I don't know of any

@jancborchardt pinged the Liferea's folks about syncing with News app, but no reply so far: lwindolf/liferea#18

Yeah, we should mail a few desktop client developers about integration. I already did that in the past with mobile apps, but development is slow.

well, since owncloud develops an own android mobile client, the mobile world is covered really good.
as far as i know, there's an iOS app, too. and of course the webclient (i'm very hopeful, OC7 is fully responsive).
maybe the people behind mirall are interested in developing a QT-based app?

a native client for a desktop OS would be really great ;) we'll see what happens.

I dont plan any responsive layout soon, feel free to submit patches though if you want to.

I doubt that the qt people will want to develop a client, they already have enough work with the sync client. But apparently @cosimoc from GNOME is working on a gnome news reader and we talked to him at GUADEC. So the most likely desktop app there will be is probably a gnome/gtk application in C or maybe even javascript.

If youre interested in helping out I think you should contact him

Also keep in mind there is also a plan (I know, it's been a "plan" for two years…) to develop an akonadi resource for ownCloud News, which means: KDE Akregator <--> oC News.
I proposed it as a GSoC project to KDE people, but all the suitable mentors were too busy.

There are Qt-based apps for SailfishOS and Harmattan

So it should be possible to use some code from there. I'd recommend ocnews as 1) It works ;) and 2) It's on github https://github.com/Buschtrommel/ocNews

But for KDE I'd much prefer an Akonadi based client as @cosenal mentions.

For great Linux desktop feed readers there’s also https://github.com/stayradiated/LightRead by @stayradiated and @consindo – do you plan on continuing that by the way?

As for responsive design, @jbtbnl and I will work on a general HTML+CSS+JS baseline for apps with that in mind. It’s a separate topic though.

@jancborchardt Nope. Lightread is dead - it was made just for the purpose of the Ubuntu App Showdown.

@consindo ah, too bad. Thanks for the info anyway, and keep up the good work with the other projects!

Liferea support plugins. I wonder if someone could write a plugin.

Open an issue in their bug tracker ;)

@apastuszak @Raydiation as mentioned above, we already asked Liferea in the past: http://sourceforge.net/p/liferea/bugs/1087/ & lwindolf/liferea#18

Feel free to ask again or work on it though.

Closing this issue. Desktop clients can be viewed under https://github.com/owncloud/news/wiki/desktop-clients and there are none available. Also added links to the readme

Hi (sorry fo mya bad english)

very nice jangernert, but I can test/use it because I'm using kubuntu 14.04 :(

@jangernert cool stuff! :) I’d be up for betatesting. It would especially be cool to have offline support (which kind of is the point of a desktop app for me), so I threw some more money at you ;) https://www.bountysource.com/issues/26359407-offline-mode
The mobile apps of @David-Development and @phedlund already do a great job at that.

@jancborchardt thx, as you saw offline mode is already on my to-do-list. Regarding mobile apps: I guess you are talking about android apps? I'm on Jolla :D

@jangernert Awesome, I will betatest right away. But please please, off-line mode! (Bountysource messed up my bitcoin transaction, one more bounty coming your way...)

Don't forget to add your app here: https://github.com/owncloud/core/wiki/Apps
