Severe bug: Windows client 1.1.1 "host not found" when booting a computer with slow WiFi(WLAN) connect time ==> sync settings are lost then #103

When booting one of our slow workstations (with WiFi (WLAN) connection) it takes 1..2 minutes until the wireless network connection is available.

Well, of course, this is not a bug of the client, and, yes, please do not tell me "buy a quicker workstation".

"host not found" ...

However, the Windows Sync Client 1.1.1 started earlier and shows a window "host not found". Regardless whether I click "ok" or close the confirmation box, when visiting the client settings in the task tray bar, these are then unintentionally cleared!

... deletes sync settings in the client then!

Why are settings cleared in this case?

Can anyone confirm my observation and supply a hotfix, I suggest:

  • set up a grace period of several minutes after client has started before showing any warning box "host not found" (or make the grace time a parameter in settings)
  • avoid any unintended deletion of settings, in any case

This is on the agenda for the next version(s) and already filed as #16. Closing this one as duplicate.
