From http://bugs.owncloud.org/thebuggenie/owncloud/issues/oc-891
There is still active discussion going on in the comments.

Description:
Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 on a Core Duo (32-bit) MBP.

Won't run, wrong arch.

Seeing as people are moving from iCloud to owncloud due to apple dropping support for "old" hardware like this, I have to imagine not building a 32-bit 10.6 executable is an oversight. You're set to either win or lose a bunch of mac nerds at the end of June when Apple turns off Mobile Me.

Client version "0.1.0 FIXME".

Reproduction steps:
Download app Note circle and slash over app in dmg click it view message stating "You can't open the application 'owncloud' because it's not supported on this type of Mac."

That's the friendly way of os-x telling you an app is either targetted to another arch or version.

I have no idea about Apple products. Which product contains that old Hardware?

Thx

I would assume any Intel mac made before the Core2Duo chip shipped.

I think mac users that would be playing with owncloud are probably not the stereotypical "must buy newest shiniest new thing" crowd.

Regardless, it would be nice to be able to run the sync client on my laptop.

Do you have source available that includes the xcode project files and all? I can just build it myself for 32-bit if there's any resistance to this.

Did you get your hands on the source code? We will probably not create a binary ourselves for this.

I would also be interested in a 32bit version of the client.

it should be possible to do a .app that contains both the 32bit and the 64bit binary like a lot (most?) app developers do?

I am very happy to finally have control over my data.

But i have the same issue on my 2006 Macbook white which has only a 32-bit architecture Intel Core Duo.

It would be great if you guys could compile it for 32-bit and stuff it into the .app folder.

Best regards, Knospi

If you can't or won't distribute a 32-bit-capable binary, how about putting it up on Mac Ports so we can build it ourselves?
