We currently mention craft in the build instruction https://doc.owncloud.com/desktop/2.8/building.html#windows-development-build-with-kde-craft

We also describe how to manually build on mac os.
All this can be achieved with https://github.com/owncloud/ownbuild/ .
In addition to making things way easier the user would also experience our "SDK" and thus the same experience as the official client.
