I got this email from NVIDIA India a few days ago. It goes like this:

NVIDIA India is launching focused digital communities for HPC practitioners, in areas such as molecular dynamics, CFD, deep learning, etc. The objective is to network, share, learn and discuss issues and challenges facing the Indian HPC segment.
Please note these communities will not be used for NVIDIA marketing or promotion and intends to be technically focused. Please also mention when registering what you think the right digital medium should be (ex: WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook groups, etc).
If interested in receiving an invitation, please email your name, title, organization, business email and mobile number to rbiddappa@nvidia.com

I remember reading Anirudh Bose's blog post about the HPC cluster at our college

I don't know why I'm raising an issue about this but it might help ML/DL folks get access to high performance machinery or help out people interested in HPC

Should we as a college apply to be a part of this community? I need everyone's opinion as I don't really know much about this subject or this program and it would also be nice if someone could do some research on this program to know whether this would be a good step or not.

This is different than the scheme where NVIDIA provides free GPUs to professors/researchers (https://developer.nvidia.com/academic_gpu_seeding).
About the mail, the objective seems really unclear. Why does it seem they are looking to form a discussion forum/platform, which will most probably help NVIDIA know about the issues and challenges it's target community faces. I don't see enough of how can joining this group help us, as from what I can understand from the mail.

Hi, just chiming in, the PI needs to have a PhD degree to apply for this. We had thought to get a Nvidia P5000 for Visioneering through this but Ajaya Sir still hasn't got his PhD yet.
