Hello,

I have a question about the coloring of the dropdown menu of MFXLegacyComboBox. Where is it handled and can the colors be passed as attributes? Also the selected coloring scheme is only applying on clicking on an item and not on selecting it programmatically.

Code example:

Hello @georgioyammine,
if I remember correctly this issue is one of the reasons for which I decided to recreate the combo box control from scratch. To be honest I'm not sure what is causing this issue, a JavaFX bug or a MFXListCell bug.

Anyway, I found a fix for this I will add it in the next minor release, here is the code:

Also, just a question/poll, why are you using the legacy control instead of the new one? Is there any reason in particular?

Well, actually I kind of like the style of the legacy one and the single click behavior but both are fine and I think having the two options is a great choice each with slightly different behavior.

As for the combo box issue I rechecked the main branch now and it seems it is no longer closing upon a double click of the box but was doing so in the fix branch, I don't know if this was intentional or not.

Maybe I accidentally reintroduced the bug? Strange though, I always test the demo before releasing on GitHub. However, it wouldn't surprise me too much to be honest, maybe I screwed with Git, gosh I really hate Git

Being tired of JavaFX bugs as usual, I decided to rebuild that component from scratch, want to have a preview and let me know what you think?

Actually I wanted to ask your opinion on the actual state of the project regarding the new list views based on Flowless.
Ever since I started this project I tried to avoid adding dependencies because I think it's not that pleasant when a library includes other libraries, I mean not everyone may like it. The thing is, these new list views depend on Flowless and ReactFX. So I would have to include them in the jar too to make the project work. The actual state is: if you download the project from Maven everything works because ReactFX is added to the Gradle dependencies and Flowless is part of the source code. If you build the project and then use the .jar it won't work because ReactFX must be on the classpath, so you have to add it. And this also applies to SceneBuilder like I said in the documentation.
This morning I was thinking... What if I create a second libary, maybe "MaterialFX Extras", for controls which depends on third party libraries or that in general do not fit in this project? What do you think?

Well, I don't have prior experience with Flowless/ReactFX, but adding extra dependencies is not always advisable, but you would need to analyze different factors and make a decision. What is the extra functionality added by the extra dependencies and if they are required, is the added dependency stable and actively maintained and trustworthy, how much this would hit the size of the application, extra bloat or conflicting issues. If you think that adding the dependencies is justifiable and would provide an important functionality and better usability then go for it.
As for the state of the project, I have one minor issue for new implementations of legacy classes, try to adopt the same naming convention for methods to keep them familiar with available APIs for legacy classes and try to improve the documentation for new components.
Other than that you are doing a good job, keep it up! 👍

I'm going to split the library then, Flowless based controls will be moved to an extra lib which includes all the needed dependencies. I don't like the idea of cluttering the main project.

May ask what issues are you encountering with the legacy classes exactly?

Fixed, the demo module-info was missing the icons module for ikonli

Currently, Flowless is part of the project but requires ReactFX to be on the classpath. All controls based on Flowless won't work without that dependency.
It's basically the same library, there are just some minor changes.
However, soon the library will be removed and the controls based on it will be moved to another library.

To be honest I would not recommend trying to understand Flowless because it has been written with ReactFX which is an old unmaintained and poorly documented project.
Maybe it's easier to understand JavaFX's VirtualFlow or rather study the virtualization in general, here are some resources: 1, 2, 3, 4
Once you understand the virtualization concept/theory you could even implement your own virtualization API in JavaFX, it's not an easy task, but it's possible

Unfortunately SceneBuilder is pretty limited when it comes to third-party controls, you won't be able to set the icon unless you use code or edit the fxml file directly

So, MFXTextField has a property called leadingIcon which accepts a Node.
If you want to use your image then set it to an ImageView, or you could set it to a MFXFontIcon and use font icons (recommended for performance)
Anyway once you've set the Node you can edit their properties from SceneBuilder

Sorry I can't remember how to modify the fxml exactly so I can't help you with that, it's for you to figure out, but it should be fairly easy
