@hlynch and @shantenujha of the ICEBERG project got in touch with me last week to discuss our respective projects. Our development goals are aligned enough that I think we should stay in touch (at a minimum) as our projects progress. I'm posting this issue to make sure they see that e're using this repository to handle our project communications / documentation and to offer to answer any other questions they may have about Pangeo/Xarray/Dask here.

Sorry I wasn't able to make this meeting. I'm really glad we are in contact.

My understanding is that the regridding package is the main priority for ICEBERG. This is high on our list as well, and also that of @matt-long at NCAR.

There is quite a bit of discussion on the path forward at JiaweiZhuang/xESMF#9.

Thanks @jhamman, appreciate you setting us up here in Git with this thread. I'll let you know if we make substantive progress on the alignment/regridding issue. I hope there is a universal solution but for now we need it for Landsat and will focus on something that will work with medium resolution imagery first.
