Another quick thought. If the metrics for the above chart was able to send the diff between the current report and the previous report (for example, 1,000 block bodies were downloaded), end users could very easily answer the most frequent question they have in their head: Is this thing still syncing? It's one thing to try to see the numbers change, it's another to simple look at a column saying, "blocks since last update." |

First, the Grafana display is amazing. So helpful. Here's a small suggestion I thought of when first visiting it.
This table:
could be improved if it were sorted by stage number. That way, the progress would become more obviously appearance as each stage completes.
You could also make a note at the bottom of this table saying something like, "Note: Your RPC will not respond until all stages complete at least one pass." (I'm not sure this is true with Reth, but it is true with Erigon, and a huge number of requests for help in the Erigon discussion groups is about this exact issue: "my node is stuck," "how do you know," "the RPC is not reporting progress." "It won't until it finishes at least one pass through the last stage," "Oh. Never mind then."
