multithreading breaks when running scalewiz from a pipx installation #34

when running scalewiz from my dev env (via vscode) the threading behaves as expected -- I can get a reading from both pumps in about 33ms

when running scalewiz from a pipx installation, it takes about twice that time (same as when readings collection was synchronous)

needs more investigation
