Is there a way to specify a Customization Specification?

Not yet, but it's one of the things on the todo list (actually one of the primary things on the list).

I should add a todo list on the wiki or as part of the repository :)

Thanks in advance. I'm looking into this as well but I'm just now getting into Python and this is my first focus as a VMware guy; I may not be much help :) - I'll respond back when I find something useful or can contribute.

+1 it is very common case, when need to use specs.

Did anyone ever fork/resolve/build this? This script is so close to perfect, but the ability to customize hardware and OS are needed. I build with the old Perl SDK now, but need to be able to change network/network info as well as specify the host names (rather than increment). Trying to base it off this script because what's here is great. just need to extend it but if someone already has, i'd rather not re-invent the wheel.
