Need more robust code to generate data

Right now, the script to generate our first "placeholder" data.frame was created & ran in isolation, solely to prepare an initial data.frame for discussion purposes at the R Val Hub's all-hands meeting on 6/27. As such, it doesn't necessarily follow best practices for automation at regular time intervals. As previously discussed, it also doesn't leverage any parallel execution which would help with run times.
