I am the maintainer of rtl88x2bu, a out-of-tree Kernel module for some of devices supported by your driver. Lacking any expert knowledge, all I do is fixing compiler errors for new Kernel versions.
Others and I would like to use the in-tree driver. I would expect it to work better and to support more features of the Kernel and the device. Unfortunately, there seem to be issues regarding the stability of the in-tree driver.
One particular issue often reported is that the network connection drops after some time of usage. With rtl88x2bu that never happens. You may find some of the reports here.
Are you aware of these issues? Do you happen to know a workaround for them? If not, is there a way how could users help you to fix this?

I work on PCI devices, and help to review and integrate support of USB devices, so I'm not aware of the issues you mentioned.
Currently, the main developer of USB devicdes is Bitterblue Smith. Maybe, you can ask your question on https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw88
By the way, this repository is only a proxy to manage upstream driver. If you have questions about upstream WiFi driver, please send email to linux-wireless@vger.kernel.org. People working on WiFi drivers can help you there.
