to start - i would suggest adding SP2019 information here rather than making people guess. I would say "cross-platform" between SPO and SP2019 is more important to people that cross-platform between Windows and MacOS.

I can't tell you how frustrating it is to try and weed out what is supposed to work with SP 2019, and how to get the modules that will work installed, and how to get an environment where i can effectively work with my SPO tenant and my SP 2019 server.
It is WAY too early for Microsoft and this community to just start turning their back on the reality of SharePoint 2019.
