This would be very nice; however, GNOME seems to require defining a set size for notifications in the theme, which is then used regardless of the content size. If the content is wider than the notification, it gets truncated with an ellipsis. The notification size in 18.04 is deliberately wider than in 17.10 to show more content of the notification at a glance; however, with short notifications there will be a bit of extra space. This isn't something that can really be fixed outside of Shell dynamically making notifications smaller when less space is needed.

Actual issue
Notifications are too wider than content.
Steps to reproduce
It happened after upgrade to 18.04 from 17.10. Will show off at every notification.
Expected behavior
Should be of adaptive width that is wider in proportion to the notification content and also centered below the clock.
Behavior in Adwaita
Notifications are too wider than content.
