Is it possible to have a tiling feature where right clicking on the maximise button gives a popup of various possible layouts to choose from for tiling, thus making the tiling process manual and thus giving the freedom to the users to actively choose how many windows they really want to have tiled at a time.
The old way of tiling could still be retained, just renamed to "Auto Tile Windows" from "Tile Windows" for users who would prefer to have it this way instead.
Thanks!

There are other great extensions that make tilling more "manual" like gTile and tilling assistant. They don't specifically use the maximize window button, but I think they are the closest to what you are looking for (especially gTile).
Cheers!
Hey, thanks for the suggestions, both the extensions are superb! I wish gnome could implement these features directly into their desktop. But again, when do they ever take any user suggestion anyways.
