pp is a good metric for overall dedication and skill level. There is just one problem i find in it - people who aren't online for months still can take space in the leaderboard.
While its true that those people were at their skill level that pp shows someday, after months they can still take high places in the leaderboard with doing barely any plays/being offline for months.
Thats why i think a season system that would be seperate from the pp system would be good idea. Seasons wouldn't be beatmap playlists, like the old seasons. This time seasons would be a system that would automatically reset every 3 months. Instead of working on pp, the season system would work on elo.
elo would be a scorring system that would work the same as pp, exept it would reset every season
Here are the rankings and their requirements:
Rhythm Incarnate | Top 50
Awoken | Top 2%
Diamond | Top 5%
Platinum | 5% – 10%
Gold | 10% – 25%
Silver | 25% – 50%
Bronze | 50% – 70%
Copper | 70% – 95%
Iron | 95% – 100%
elo, just like pp would only be possible to get on every ranked map, and the overall system would be automatic (hence why I added a Awoken rank - because i had to use the highest rank as a hard limit
You could see your rank on your profile, and how much elo would be required to reach the next rank which would work basically that the game would check how much elo has the last person in a rank, and save it as a v1. then it takes your elo, saves it as v2, and then runs a calculation v1 - v2, and gives you the result
This system would allow to track the best players of all time, and track the best players in the past 3 months, which would be great because it would eleminate the players who basically don't play the game, leaving a clean leaderboard
