I want to use my fn keys as normal fn keys within my code editor (WebStorm). I tried Fluor but it doesn't work unless "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is checked within Karabiner Elements.

Any ideas about how I might use both tools without conflicts? What about possibly integrating a similar functionality within Karabiner?

Found out how to use Preferences > Complex Modifications to achieve this.

  • You can import "Function keys work as fn keys (instead of media keys)" from Karabiner-Elements complex_modifications rules
  • Edit the script in ~/.config/karabiner/assets/complex_modifications to apply to your applications
  • Add rule under Preferences > Complex Modifications
