Change the offset of a stable consumer group

Hi i have an AWS MSK Kafka Cluster provisioned with a lambda function as a consumer.

Unfortunalty the lambda function was silently failing and the consumer has been moving the offset along since the 29/09/2023.

I was hoping i could reset the offset back to this timestamp so it could process messages it missed but we get the following message.

Group's offsets can be reset only if group is inactive, but group is in Stable state

I checked and the consumer is in a stable state

One solution i can think of which is to redeploy my lambda function, changing the consumerGroupId and startingPosition

Are there any other solutions? Is there something in kafka-ui that can help us, what is the correct thing we should do here to move the offset back for this consumer group?
