Issue submitter TODO list

  • I've searched for an already existing issues here
  • I'm running a supported version of the application which is listed here and the feature is not present there

Is your proposal related to a problem?

It is unclear whether Kafka-UI is still alive or whether it has been officially replaced by Kafbat.

Describe the feature you're interested in

If this project is dead, I think that it would benefit the community to post an official statement on the README.md and archive this project.

Describe alternatives you've considered

As of the time of this comment, the last two code commits where:

  • 2024 Apr 08
  • 2023 Sep 13

There are recent discussions, but they invariably have a comment in them from Haarolean stating, "this repo is not maintained".

Most recent pull request was 2024 July 26.

Quite a few Issues, but the only answers are again from Haarolean stating, "this repo is not maintained".

Too bad, this was really promising!

Most importantly, there aren't really a lot of alternatives that are free/open source and with an intuitive UI. (if you happen to know any, please share!)

Well, the project is still alive over at Kafbat. Which is why I think this project should be archived.

In kubernetes clusters, I switched from kafka-ui to kafbat-ui using official helm charts. The yamlApplicationConfig schema was identical for ksqlServer, kafkaConnect, and rbac features. This allowed a 10-minute migration per cluster. Most helm values stayed the same. Kafbat is safer with continuous CVE patches. I recommend it for active maintenance.
