At the moment of you want to create artwork based on an image file for the MMU or XL the only way to do so is to import the image into your chosen CAD software, select each feature and extrude them as new objects as part of your model. At least as far as I can tell from searching and asking on reddit.
It would be much neater if you could import your image direct to the slicer (maybe an SVG file) apply it to a face on a 3D object, it could be that it's only flat faces to begin with, then use the "fill" function to colour the print in.
I know it's a very busy time at prusa and you're doing great work so thank you for reading my request.
