Release 4.1: call for removing deprecated features

Hi everyone,

features has already accumulated quite a number of bug-fixes and new features, so it would be great to have a 4.1 release soon.

Problem is that we still have a number of deprecated features to remove before 4.1, as per our deprecation policy. I've been working on that when I have the time, but there's still a lot to do.

I would like to ask if more people can join in that effort; I would not like to have a 4.1 release without removing all deprecated features that are scheduled for removal.

We could perhaps leave some deprecated features in place and remove them in 4.2, but I would really really like to avoid that, as 4.1 should be our hard-line for feature removal (given that we have turned warnings into errors in 4.0).
