What is the bug or the crash?

When georeferencing the same .tiff in multiple CRS, the .tiff has the same position. I thought on the fly reprojection was automatically enabled for QGIS 3.34 but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

@amyewarren, unless I misunderstood the reported issue, the fact that "When georeferencing the same .tiff in multiple CRS, the .tiff has the same position." actually means that on the fly reprojection is enabled and working.
QGIS 3.34 is EOL. Please try if the issue occurs also using QGIS 3.40 and a brand new QGIS user profile without any external third-party plugin installed.
If it does please accurately describe the issue and provide a QGIS project file, any needed layer file and detailed step by step instruction to replicate the issue.
