Understand public sharing

Hello,

I'm running a simple Debian VM and I would like to share a directory with my host for easy share of document. I found the flag --public-dir but it doens't seems to change anything.
For instance I want to share host@/Public and guest@/Public, but no matter what I do, an action in the first one will happen in the second one, and the other way around.
Is there something I don't understand ? Does the flag is used to specify the host directory shared ?

Yes, the flag modifies which directory on your host is shared with the VM.
