I was trying denote. It installed just fine with straight-use-package. But while reading its manual I saw the following
If you are viewing the README.org version of this file, please note that the GNU ELPA machinery automatically generates an Info manual out of it.
But after checking the Info page there wasn't anything there. I checked straight/build/denote and sure enough, there wasn't an .info file. A quick look into the ELPA packaged tar does show a denote.info.
So the ELPA build system generates the manual. From Straight's README I think the same could be achieved with the appropriate :pre-build command, but I've never use it and I'm not sure how to even begin.
