feat: account virtual machines

Currently, this only accounts for VirtualMachineInstance objects. However, this would not give feedback to the user if they try to create a VirtualMachine object. The result would simply be a failed instance creation. It would be nice to also account for VirtualMachines. I started out this way but the logic quickly became too complex for an MVP and I abandoned it.
