One way could be to display partitions with sizes larger than the size of the entering/leaving bundle. Another could be to have bundle that grow or decrease in width.
I understand that it is a bit against the principle of Sankey diagrams, but it would be useful for some special cases.

I was wondering if it was possible to make diagrams where the mass is not conserved?
I looked at System boundaries but could not find a way to do it.
