Reported by rosali on 20 Jul 2014 05:13 UTC as Trac ticket #1489991
#1- GUI messages overlap the preview pane toggle at right bottom corner

(preview pane disabled - Larry skin). A click on the toggle is impossible while the GUI message
is displayed. That's an issue in case of long "staying" GUI messages.
#2- Preview pane (threaded view):

Only the FROM header is displayed. That's not of interest if it is an
outgoing message. In this case the TO header should be displayed.

Thanks for consideration.

#1 - it's wontfix. how often do you use this toggle? anyway, the message element can be removed by clicking on it.
#2 - that's something that could be changed.

Also the contact photo should be get from recipient not sender when in Sent folder.

#1- is ok form me.

#2- Clarification: A conversation in a folder can contain incoming and outgoing messages. I'd like to see to TO/FROM and photo toggle in this case and not only for folder which typically only contains outgoing messages (sent).

Would checking the sender email against the current user's identities be a valid way to detect "outgoing" messages?

I think there is no reliable way to check if a message is "outgoing". I suggest FROM, TO and DATE headers in one line. Currently you only display FROM and DATE. May be it is not necessary to display DATE because this information is available in message list. So, it is redundant.

Another approach could be to show in the preview pane the opposit of the message list. If the message list shows FROM (all folders except SENT) then the preview pane shows TO and vice versa.

I have checked what Thunderbird displays and I think that's good:

1st line: FROM (left align - incl. Photo?)
2nd line: SUBJECT (left align) - DATE (right align)
3rd line: TO (left align - incl. Photo?)

All additional headers should go to the toggle section.

I think checking From: against identities would be good enough. However, there's one issue with displaying To: vs. From:. From: contains one address while To: might contain more.
