transparent example doesn't work because softbuffer doesn't support transparency #2960

Commit b2a46d0 brought in softbuffer to fill windows with a solid color to resolve #776. This broke the transparent example because softbuffer does not support transparency. Additionally, the choice of fill color is opaque, so it wouldn't work even if softbuffer supported transparency.
