I just dropped this preview release to those in Discord; once I hear back from some HW3 users, I'll release it fully. I don't have a HW3 to test with, so I didn't want to release it where some newbie might grab it and mess something up and not know how to fix it 😅
(The gif was sped up a bit when flashing.)
It can communicate with the OSCR to ask it what version it is, what features it has, etc. It will auto-select the firmware if a match is found. The auto-detection does require a firmware update. If you aren't running firmware with the updater feature, then it will appear as an Arduino, and you'll have to choose your hardware version and features manually:
The updates are pre-compiled hex files that it downloads from my site. It also will install the drivers for you if you don't have them. If you do have them, it will check if a newer version is available, and if so, ask if you want to install it. It also checks for updates to itself when you run it. 🙂
