[GCI2018] Not Responsive , Custom "Research Areas" cannot be added , Search by Author is not working

First When I landed from Google Code-in Task, I was quite excited but was heartbroken seeing there's no proper guide here how to set it up locally, still using some previously learnt skills and using the online hosted version (Though I mainly used the local version running on localhost )

Here Are Some Issues I've found:

• Not Responsive: The site is not responsive it's not possible to use it in mobile devices.

• Custom "Research Areas" cannot be added: This is the worst issue I've found, this limits the usage of the program and makes it unusable to people who want to use in another field other than Computer Research

There's should be a "Add New Research Area" button somewhere

• Search by Author is not available: If someone wants to find his/her friend or colleague's pub. he can't.
