Unlike desktop versions in which mouses can be used, it's not so easy to use menus in Android, since we could only close the menu by tapping the header or pressing physical back key. A button can be used to navigate to the upper level (if exists) of a menu.

This was a design decision from years ago. The upper menu is replaced by the selected one. This might only be a 'problem' in case of a mistyped selection. I may think of it. Thanks for the hint.
