Positioning, Popper replacement?

For community consideration. Popper is fine but I love the middleware concept in floating-ui, so I will be using it in my projects going forward:

When the time is right, probably. This is developed by one of Popper's co-creators, so credibility is there but it's still prerelease and it's a bit more low level than Popper. For example, you need to add listeners yourself:

Right now, we get this for free. Not a huge deal, but before I rip out a well-established library for a newcomer, I'd like it to be a bit more tested and stable.

OK, I think floating-ui has bags of promise, but for all the reasons @claviska states I accept that I may be being a little trigger happy. One to watch for the future.

Hey, creator of Floating UI here :) just want to say I think the assessment of waiting for v1 is completely sound, I am aiming for late Jan 2022 for that, after it gets more usage and the API gets more battle-tested. And completing the writing of all of the functional tests.

In terms of support, it's a fork of Popper's codebase and basically matches all the logic from v2.11.0, although with some improvements. It should be as pretty much as stable as it in its current state!

Thanks for the push. I've swapped out Popper in favor of Floating UI in b9770e7. This will be available in beta.71.
