To facilitate off-board high-quality audio i/o, it would be nice to support digital audio as an alternative to the line in/out.
The PCM9211 chip has spdif in and out and an audio ADC. It converts digital or analog audio in to I2S. I think it does I2S-to-spdif out, but we need to check.
A PCM9211 alongside an I2S DAC (like the one in Tulip) could enable Amyboard to receive and transmit both analog and digital audio.
