Brief summary of issue

In Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon, Shutter does not save a cropped image to the clipboard.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Capture screen image using Shutter.
  2. Click Edit > Tools > Crop
  3. Select rectangular area to retain. Click Crop button to discard area outside of selection area.
  4. Click Edit > Copy in the top menu, CTRL+C, or click overlapping page icon shortcut to copy the image to the clipboard. There is no confirmation that selection has been saved to the clipboard.

Error output

When attempting to paste the resulting image from the clipboard, the clipboard is empty. This occurred both in LibreOffice, and GIMP.

Extra information, such as Shutter version, display server in use (Xorg or Wayland), operating system and ideas for how to solve:

Shutter Version: 0.99.2 Rev 193
Operating System: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
Display server: Xorg

Workaround (NOT the final solution): The cropped image can be saved to a file, and pasted from the file. However, that adds steps to paste a cropped image.
