Feature Request

Can Signal inherit the font settings from Chromium or the system itself instead of shipping its own fonts? This would let it better integrate with the desktop. Currently, I replace the fonts in the fonts directory each time the app updates. Would be a lot more convenient if Signal just respected my settings in Chromium.

Can you tell us a little bit more about what you're trying to achieve with your font replacement? Is it about the font size? Readability? Consistency with other desktop apps?

It is for consistency with the other desktop apps that I do this. I don't really have a problem with Roboto's readability and enjoy it on my phone but just like Signal fits right in with the rest of the system on my phone, I'd like it to do the same on the desktop as well.

If you aren't accepting feature requests for the Chrome app anymore then can you please consider this for the Electron app?

I think this might be of help in implementing my request (if you think it is worthy) for both, the present Chrome app and the future Electron app: #15080.

This is the folk at Atom attempting to do the same thing, for pretty much the same reasons too.
